President Yuweri Kakuta Museveni promises the people of northern Uganda peace as long as he is in power.  Museveni was recently meeting head teachers in Lira district at Ngetta DFI to forge way forward on the poor education standard that has rocked the country. He also promised to raise salaries of  secondary school teachers.

‘Lango democratic’
He said the Lango are democratic enough at a point of not fighting the government even at a time when they were in camps, had their animals looted, were the victim of rising poverty and poor education. Even under these conditions they would still oppose government through ballot papers.‘Kony will not survive’
Museveni said Kony and his group has no capacity to come back to disturb the existing peace and urged the locals to work hard knowing they would not go back in camps or sleep in the bush.  According to Museveni Kony is only fighting for survival but not to over throw the government and he may not survive the operation Lighting Thunders in Garamba forest.

‘Salaries according to standard of education’
Museveni also promised to add salary to secondary school teachers to cover the cost of living in the country today. Salaries will be added according to your standard of education or qualification, he said.  He also noted the impact of universal primary education that has enable eight million pupils to afford primary education and over one million in secondary schools.

Standard of eduction alarming
Museveni is touring the country to give moral to teachers to upped their efforts in the alarming education standard which as gone down massively.  In the last realized primary living examination results show that only 60% passed with 40% failing completely. Recently the minister for education and sports Namirembe Bitamazire said the government is committed to paying the school fees of those pupils who have failed.This will remain in the history of the NRM government since the policy of their education is that no pupils should repeat any class. This year the government is committing to paying school fees of those who will re sit PLE exams.
