Northern Uganda rehabilitation program launched in Dokolo.

LIRA- Dokolo district local has launched two projects funded by northern Uganda rehabilitation program and European Union on peace building, conflict resolution and intervention on HIV- AIDS mitigation, control, support and sensitization in a function held at Agwata Sub County.
Joseph Enyabu, vice chairperson of Dokolo district local government, called for a dramatic return to peace and prosperity for all in the district since there is relative peace prevailing in the district. He said the two projects have come at a time when the people of Dokolo are returning home.

He also called upon CPAR- Uganda and CAP- AIDS Uganda who implement the projects to be transparent in doing their work.

During the same function the RDC Dokolo district, Ruth Atala Adupa said it is the responsibility of the government to lobby, plan and distribute resources to its people. She added that the local governments are to provide smooth services delivery on behalf of the central government. Adupa called on the beneficiaries of the projects and the local government to monitor its implementation.

At the same function, the CAO, Dokolo local government leaders said that NUREP has helped the district by funding part of the district budget and the district development plan. NUREP has provided funding for the construction of a maternity ward and fencing of Dokolo health centre IV.

The program officer CAP -AIDS Uganda said that they will provide 300 beds for the pe0ple living with AIDS in Agwata, train youths in vocational skills and human rights and rule of law. The community mobilizers will be provided with bicycles to make their work easy.

CPAR Uganda also pledged to carry out peace building and conflict resolution in Agwata. The European Union was represented by Joyce Pakkla and Dr Tadeos and NUREP.
